Free to use Claude in slack

Claude is a large language model developed by Anthropic, with capabilities higher than GPT-3.5 and lower than GPT-4. Currently, there are three methods to use Claude:

  1. API
  2. Poe
  3. Slack

The first method is not introduced due to the high difficulty of applying for an API. The second method only requires logging in to Poe (https://poe.com), so it is not introduced here. This article mainly focuses on the third method: Claude in Slack.

Slack is an enterprise-level team collaboration and communication software, and Claude is an application that can be integrated into Slack. Initially, Claude in Slack was free, but now it requires a Slack Professional plan to use it, although the free version can add Claude, it will not respond.

Therefore, this article will teach you how to use Claude in Slack for free.

Requirements#

Note: The following requirements are based on my own experience as there are no official conditions. They may not be accurate. If you have any additional information, please leave a comment in the comment section.

  • Computer browser or a browser that can switch to computer user agent (UA)
  • VPN

Tutorial#

Register or log in to your account#

Go to Slack (https://slack.com/intl/en) to log in or register for an account.

Create a new workspace#

Make sure the VPN is connected.
Click on "Create a new workspace" on the page.
Fill in the information randomly.
Previously created workspaces are unlikely to work.

Start the trial#

Find a feature that requires a professional plan to start the trial. Here, we will use "Slack Connect" as an example.

  1. Click on "Browse Slack" in the top left corner to expand the menu.
  2. Click on "Slack Connect".
  3. Close the pop-up window.
  4. Click on "Create a channel" on the "Slack Connect" page.
  5. Start the trial.
After starting the trial, a window will pop up. Click on "Continue" and then close it.
If the "Start free trial" button does not appear, please refer to the FAQ at the end of the article.

Add Claude#

Go to Claude in Slack (https://www.anthropic.com/claude-in-slack).
Click on the "Add to Slack" button and follow the prompts.
If "Success!" appears, it means it was successful.

Test the conversation#

Go back to Slack, click on "Claude" under the "Apps" section in the sidebar, or use @Claude in a channel to have a conversation with Claude.
At this point, the following message should appear:

We're excited for you to try our beta experience, Claude.
While we’ve developed Claude to be helpful, harmless, and honest, it is capable of generating incorrect or offensive content.
Please exercise caution as you interact with Claude and don’t share sensitive or personal information in your conversations.
We appreciate your feedback! Please report anything that may be offensive or unsafe for our team to review.
Before Claude can respond to your message, please agree to our Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy.

Cancel Agree

Select "Agree" to proceed.

Now you can use Claude.
